(COLUMBUS, OHIO, March 29, 2018) Central Indiana residents will have a chance to help families in need and check an item off their spring “to-do” list in one single step.

Sears Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning, 9331 Castlegate Drive, Indianapolis, now offers a free hall cleaning or a free room of carpet protector application with the donation of five or more non-perishable food items.

Michelle Ayres, owner, said the food will go to the Come To Me Food Pantry, a service organization that served more than two million pounds of food to families in need over the last decade.

“Everyone loves to get something for free,” Ayres said. “If you can get something for free and do something good for your community, all the better!”

Pantry recipients can visit the facility once a month and receive a week’s worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. This includes fresh and prepackaged items. Recipients also get laundry and personal care products.

Ayres said many customers learn about the pantry’s needs during the cleaning and continue to support the cause long after the Sears team leaves.

“By sharing this opportunity with our customers, we are not only able to offer food support to the pantry, but also raise awareness of ongoing needs with the food pantry,” she said. “Our hope is that once customers are aware of the needs in their community, they will find an opportunity to continue to give back somehow – whether it be through the food pantries or another different avenue to support their community.”

Ayres started the donation program in 2017 and said it will remain an ongoing project. With so many families and businesses planning Spring Cleaning projects, she hopes to connect the current demand for cleaning support with the constant demand for food security.

“There are so many opportunities we have as small business owners to support and bring awareness to the needs in our community and so many different ways to make a difference,” she said. “Our customers have been so very generous with their food donations, and we are thankful for their support.”
