GREEN BAY, Wis. March 22, 2018 A Sears Garage Solutions franchise recently celebrated a milestone with the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.
For the last four years, franchise owners Janet and Dan Bernetzke collaborated with Habitat, providing garage doors, garage door openers and installation for new Habitat for Humanity homes across the region. The Bernetzkes recently installed their 40th garage door unit at a home in Green Bay.
Mr. Bernetzke said he and his wife first volunteered on a Habitat for Humanity build after opening their garage solutions franchise. Since opening the business six years ago, they "jumped in" on various projects and used their expertise in garage door service and installation to expand their efforts on behalf of local families seeking the dream of home ownership.
"There's always a sense of accomplishment knowing you've participated in something that is not only benefiting your community, but also a family who is receiving the keys to their very first home," Mr. Bernetzke said. "The excitement of that family is just amazing!"
"It's important for Habitat for Humanity to team up with local business partners," added Nate Zepnick. "We want to build more than homes; we want to build a sense of community."
