(COLUMBUS, OHIO, December 18, 2017) - Kim Graham knows the story of cancer far too well.

Despite brave battles, Graham lost her uncle, brother, and mother-in-law to the disease. Now the branch manager of a Sears Maid Franchise in Lewis Center, Ohio, Graham is helping serve women with cancer.

Graham is one of five Sears Maid franchises affiliated with "Cleaning for a Reason", an international non-profit that donates one free home cleaning to women battling cancer. The Sears franchises serve families in Ohio, Texas, New York and Pennsylvania.

"We appreciate the opportunity to serve cancer patients in this way," Graham said. "These women who are battling cancer depend on a sterile environment and we are able to provide a clean home for them and their family. They can then focus on spending time with their family and recovery."

Lynn Frankenfield, executive director of "Cleaning for a Reason", said the non-profit organization has served more than 27,000 women since 2006. With more than 1,000 new applicants a month, they welcome the support Graham and other Sears Maid franchise owners provide.

"A free cleaning reduces the stress and eases the burden a woman faces once she receives a cancer diagnosis. We provide the practical help when it's needed most," Frankenfield said. "According to one patient, her goal was to ‘keep things normal' for her two children. There were days when taking a shower was all that she was able to do, let alone push a vacuum."

Graham said a Sears Maid Services franchise partner notified her about the opportunity to work with the nonprofit.

"My team loves that we support ‘Cleaning for a Reason'. I have house cleaning specialists who ask to be given the ‘Cleaning for a Reason' patient, so they can take care of them," Graham said.

Frankenfield said cancer patients can register for services at cleaningforareason.org/patients. The only documentation "Cleaning for a Reason" requires is a physician's note stating that the woman is in treatment for cancer.

Frankenfield said companies interested in donating cleanings can visit cleaningforareason.org/partners or call 877.337.3348, extension 7.
